Fauna Gill - Counsellor and Supervisor
PG Dip, PG Cert (Supervision), BSc Psych, Registered MBACP (Accred)

Are you struggling with depression, anxiety, or just not feeling happy with your life? Perhaps you are having problems in your relationship/s or with your family/friends, suffering from a bereavement or other form of loss, struggling with the effects of past or present abuse or something else, and would like someone to listen to you with compassion and empathy. It is often hard to talk to those closest to you about what is troubling you or you may feel you are burdening them and so it often helps to talk to someone outside of your daily life who can be more objective and give you another perspective on things. Counselling is a process that explores your troubles in terms of thoughts and feelings, including understanding the nature of your relationships with others and how your past impacts on or repeats itself in the present. By working together, counselling can help you gain greater insight so you can either make changes in your life to improve it or learn better coping skills to live with the things you cannot change. It will also give you the skills to make better choices so you can begin to feel more in control of your life.
Counselling sessions take place over the phone or online, last for 50 minutes and are usually once a week. The number of sessions you undertake depends on your individual circumstances and the problems you want to work on; you may need just a few sessions although many people benefit from longer-term therapy.

As an accredited and registered member of the BACP, I abide by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and in accordance with this I undertake regular supervision of my practise and seek out specialist training for continuing professional development.

I have over 25 years of experience as a counsellor in the UK and Asia, in both the private and voluntary sectors: I spent 8 years as a senior staff and student counsellor at a local university and in the last 11 years I have managed two local counselling organisations before recently retiring from full-time work to focus on my private clients.

I am fully insured, and registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
